Here are a few pics of my new ride. I found the car sitting at my girl friends uncle house. I asked him what was going on with it , he said somebody he knows needed a place to put the car. Then he told me they where hurting for money and they would sale it for 400 bucks to him. Then he would sale it to me for the same price, I said ok but i was broke also, I had all my money wrapped up in wedding stuff. He told me no biggie he would hold it till i get some money back up. I got the wedding stuff over with, went to his house to pay him. Then he told me he would just give it to me for my wedding gift. Made me super happy . Anyways enough of the story i am sure alot of you guy and gals really dont care..lol

So this is what i came up with so far. 1977 Firebird Esprint, with a 68 pontiac 350 motor. After looking it over real good the car had new L and R quarter panels put on with new L and R fenders and inner wheel wells. Somebody at one time put some money in the car. Here are some pics of the way i got the car.

Right now i just wanna fix a few bugs and drive it. I have a project now that i am wrapping up. Then i will get going on this one.
I would like to paint the car a dark Silver and put a wing on it, lowered 2in with Black 22in wheels in the rear and 20in in the front. Kinda like a hot wheels look.
Motor wise might be 383 stroker or a LQ4 swap, but who knows what might happen..

More pics of the motor after i got the work done. I figured i would just play with the motor in the car for now. Later on it will be a LQ4 swap. Crower 60916 cam,Edelbrock intake,Holly 4150 670 cfm crab,Summit racing headers,PBM lifter and double roller timing chain,Billet hei distributor cant think of the brand, and the normal stuff new plugs wires and a coat of fresh paint.. I'm sure i forgot a few things..

Man cant wait to see Dubs on your car. I have been contemplating what size to get for my car 18's, 19, or 20's. Leaning toward 19's but really want to see how the Dubs look, and see what size tire you eventually go with. It will look nice im sure !
Here are more pics of some more parts i been collecting. The car will be a Trans am clone or close to it.
2 half fender to cut scoops out of..

Mark,
You'll find using 20" wheels w/ a 2 in. drop a bit too much of everything- our 2nd gen Birds sit a bit low as is, and any combo using tires over 27" tall w/ the body dropped over 1" on the suspension will encounter rubbing and bottoming out. You can also forget about running headers if you drop the suspension even 1"- that's how low our Firebirds are.

Here's how I got my car. It had a 2" drop front and back with 18" Tires

Front: 225/40r18 (8.75"x25")
Back: 245/40r18 (9.25x25.5")

No rubbing and a near perfect ride, aside from bottoming out on hills. I'm changing the tires and raised the rear end 1" for my preference. Going back to 15's with:

Front: 225/60r15 (8.75x25.5")
Back: 255/60r15 (10"x27"), I have to get the back up a little to keep from bottoming out so much.

Thought this information might help someone on their set up. Good luck it looks like a great project.

Most of all, congrats on your wedding!

That is a lot of wheel in those fender wells. If you are using 20" wheels you may need a little more clearance to sure nothing rubs.
